CONTEXT
Administrative/Biographical history:
The Stepney (No 7) Group Hospital Management Committee was established by the North East Metropolitan Hospitals Board on the introduction of the National Health Service in 1948. The Group consisted of the East End Maternity, London Jewish, Mile End and St George in the East Hospitals, and several clinics. St George in the East was closed in 1956. The Committee was dissolved in 1966 on the formation of the East London Group Hospital Management Committee.

Records of the Stepney (No 7) Group Hospital Management Committee, 1948-1968, comprising minutes of the Management Committee, 1948-1964; Establishment Committee, 1948-1962; Works Committee, 1949-1961; Nursing Committee, 1955-1962; Secretary's files, 1958-1968, relating to staff, supplies, accident and emergency services, chronic sick and geriatric services, London Jewish Hospital, Mile End Hospital, notably closure of Bancroft Road, maternity services, development.
